HOUSTON,
WE HAVE A
SURVIVOR PROBLEM!
The Texans disappoint the crowd, the Browns become unlikely heroes, and two Cowboys believers survive a Monday night sweat.
In Survivor football, there’s safety in numbers—right up until everyone makes the same mistake.
Week 7 offered a spectacular demonstration. The Houston Texans were the most popular selection in Yahoo’s public pool, drawing 29.36% of picks. They also drew five selections among Crunchtime’s remaining contestants. Then Houston lost, and four Survivor seasons went down with it.
On the other side of the ledger, a couple of fearless managers backed the historically untrustworthy Cleveland Browns. Two more put their seasons on hold until Monday night, waiting for Dallas to settle their fate. Somehow, those were the people celebrating.
🥃 THE EXECUTIVE CLUB
Three members. Zero strikes. An increasingly exclusive guest list.
| Perfect Survivor | Week 7 Selection | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Joe Buck | ✓ DEN — Broncos | PERFECT |
| Keith’s picks | ✓ CLE — Browns | PERFECT |
| McE | ✓ CLE — Browns | PERFECT |
🤨 Wait. We’re Picking the Browns to WIN Now?
For years, the Cleveland Browns were practically a cheat code in Survivor Pools. The strategy wasn’t to pick Cleveland. It was to look at the schedule, find whoever was playing Cleveland, and pencil in the opponent. Easy win. Next week, please.
That reputation doesn’t disappear overnight. Survivor veterans have long memories, and the words “trust the Browns” still sound suspiciously like the opening line of a cautionary tale.
But Keith’s picks and McE did exactly that. With their perfect records on the line, both backed Cleveland. Just 5.08% of Yahoo public pool users made the same choice. The Browns won, and two Executive Club members walked away spotless.
The Browns used to help Survivor players by losing. Now they’re helping Keith and McE by winning. Somewhere, an old-school pool veteran is checking to make sure the schedule isn’t upside down.
Meanwhile, Joe Buck kept his own perfect season intact by taking Denver, a selection made by 11.66% of Yahoo’s public pool. No drama required. Sometimes the best Executive Club benefit is getting to enjoy Sunday without questioning your entire decision-making process.
🩹 THE ONE-STRIKE LOUNGE
Five entries still alive. One mistake away from a beach chair on Exile Island.
| Survivor | Week 7 Selection | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Miami | ✓ MIN — Vikings | 1 STRIKE |
| Mrbubbajames | ✓ CLE — Browns | 1 STRIKE |
| Scott H | ✓ DAL — Cowboys | 1 STRIKE |
| Tacoman9000 | ✓ DAL — Cowboys | 1 STRIKE |
| Tim’s picks of doom | ✕ HOU — Texans | NEW FIRST STRIKE |
🌙 Scott and TacoMan’s Monday Night Waiting Room
While other Survivor players were finding out their fates on Sunday, Scott H and Tacoman9000 had an extra appointment with anxiety. Both had the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football. Both already carried one strike. Both knew a loss meant elimination.
And Dallas wasn’t exactly the fashionable pick. Only 3.32% of Yahoo public pool users selected the Cowboys. That means more than 96% of the public pool decided to make somebody else’s Monday night their problem.
Scott and TacoMan couldn’t do that. They had to wait, watch, and hope their Survivor seasons didn’t end under the primetime lights.
Dallas delivered. Two managers survived, two blood-pressure monitors presumably earned overtime pay, and Exile Island had to cancel a couple of room reservations.
💀 Tim’s Picks of Doom Finally Finds Some Doom
For six weeks, Tim’s picks of doom was a hilariously inaccurate name for a perfect Survivor entry. Then Tim picked Houston.
The Texans lost, the perfect record disappeared, and Tim joined the One-Strike Lounge. Unlike the four Houston backers who were already carrying a strike, Tim had one life to spare.
The good news: he’s still alive. The bad news: his team name has finally started doing its job.
🏝️ EXILE ISLAND
Four new arrivals. Houston handled the transportation.
| Newly Eliminated | Fatal Week 7 Pick | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Jake | ✕ HOU — Texans | ELIMINATED |
| Jen Z | ✕ HOU — Texans | ELIMINATED |
| Jmessy8 | ✕ HOU — Texans | ELIMINATED |
| Spiderman | ✕ HOU — Texans | ELIMINATED |
🚨 Houston, You Had ONE Job
For Jake, Jen Z, Jmessy8 and Spiderman, the Texans weren’t just another NFL pick. They were the last thing standing between another week of Survivor and a one-way trip to Exile Island.
Houston’s popularity made the choice feel reassuring. Nearly three in ten Yahoo public pool users had the same idea. Surely that many people couldn’t all be wrong?
Oh, they absolutely could.
Houston disappointed its backers, and all four Crunchtime entries were eliminated together. The Texans didn’t just lose a football game; they effectively chartered a group flight to Exile Island.
Jen Z had been perfect entering Week 6, only to take a first strike with the Rams. Houston delivered the second strike one week later. From the Executive Club to Exile Island in two weeks: an express checkout nobody requested.
🏖️ The Island’s Latest Census
| Survivor Status | Entries |
|---|---|
| 🥃 Executive Club — perfect | 3 |
| 🩹 One-Strike Lounge — alive | 5 |
| 🏝️ Exile Island — eliminated | 46 |
| Original field | 54 |
Exile Island now houses 46 of the original 54 entries. At this point, the eliminated contestants could probably organize their own football league, start a homeowners association, and still have enough people left over to complain about Houston.
🏈 THE WEEK 7 VERDICT
Picking against the Browns used to be the easiest Survivor strategy around. This week, picking the Browns helped keep three Crunchtime entries alive, including two perfect records.
Dallas made Scott and TacoMan wait until Monday night, then rewarded their unpopular gamble. Houston attracted the biggest public crowd—and promptly disappointed everyone who trusted it.
Eight survivors remain. Three are perfect. And Exile Island has plenty of vacancies that nobody wants to fill.
Next week, every pick matters. Especially the ones that look like a sure thing.
