If you thought 2026 was going to ease us into the NFL season, think again. Just two weeks into the slate, the Crunchtime Survivor Pool has turned into an absolute meat grinder.
With 54 total entries kicking off Week 1, our double-elimination rules (two strikes and you’re out) are already being put to the ultimate test.
By the Numbers: Where the League Stands
| Status | Total Entries | % of Pool | Notes |
| 0 Misses (Clean Sheet) | 17 | 31.5% | Cruising with 2 lives intact |
| 1 Miss (On the Brink) | 28 | 51.8% | Walking the tightrope; 0 lives left |
| Eliminated (2 Misses) | 9 | 16.7% | Season over |
Over 68% of the entire field has already picked up at least one strike before we even reach October.
What Happened? The Anatomy of the Carnage
Week 1: The Chargers Shock the Field
The pool came out swinging behind Jim Harbaugh’s Los Angeles Chargers, with 22 entries backing them at home against Arizona. The Cardinals pulled off a stunning 26–14 upset, immediately tagging over 40% of the league with an opening-week strike.
Meanwhile, entries backing Jacksonville (34–10 over Cleveland), Detroit (31–30 OT thriller over New Orleans), Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Chicago survived unscathed.
Week 2: The Tampa Trap Door & Double Whammy
Week 2 delivered a brutal one-two punch that wiped entries right out of the pool:
- The Baker Mayfield Trap (19 Entries on TB): Tampa Bay entered as heavy favorites against Cleveland, but the Browns stole a 23–19 win at Raymond James Stadium. For those who survived Week 1 on Jacksonville or Detroit, TB gave them their first scratch. But for the Chargers backers who doubled down on the Bucs, it was the fatal blow.
- Baltimore Stunner (3 Entries on BAL): New Orleans walked into Baltimore and upset the Ravens 24–17.
- No-Shows (2 Entries): My Bold Pick Set and RussRocks! logged no pick for Week 2, locking in an automatic miss.

Pick carefully!
