We would like to remind and further clarify the use of IR slots.
IR (Injured Reserve) Slots Rule / Eligibility
- Eligibility: A player is only eligible to occupy an IR slot if they have played in at least one regular-season NFL game during the current season (officially recording at least 1 offensive or defensive snap / special teams participation) and are listed on the NFL IR List.
- Pre-Season Injuries: Any player who starts the season injured, is placed on PUP/IR before playing, or gets injured in preseason/practice without playing an official regular-season down cannot be placed on fantasy IR.
- The Bench Requirement: Managers are welcome to draft, trade for, or hold inactive/injured players for keeper upside, but those players must remain on their bench until they play in a regular-season game.
- Waiver Pickups: Claiming an injured player off waivers who has not played a game this season does not bypass this rule. They must go straight to the active bench.
Stashing an injured stud in late rounds and parking them in an IR slot all season is one of the easiest loopholes to exploit keeper leagues. It removes all bench sacrifice while locking in elite surplus value for next year. Crunchtime IR slots were created to get us through the mass-inactives during the COVID years. Having 7 bench slots already gives managers ample space to hold onto injured players without having to sacrifice a valued player to waivers. These 2 IR slots give further relief. So please don’t abuse them. Any future misuse will result in VOIDING keeper eligibility.
