Well, we’re one week into the season. So, that means half of us are undefeated…and the other half are, well, you know.
Darque Warriors, Joe Buck Yourself, Irish Pride, GB Gamblers, and The Pimps are all 1-0 and just yacking it up.
Congrats. We’re so so happy for you
As for the other half……
But, fear not. Week 2 brings new hope and a chance of redemption for the 0-1 teams. The 1-0’ers will be looking for confirmation that their fantasy draft was a day of genius. It is so early though… and things change quickly! Let’s take a look at what this coming week is all about.
WEEK 2 PREVIEWS
Game of the week
The #1 ranked Darque Warriors (1-0) face off against The Pimps (1-0) in our GAME OF THE WEEK. These two teams have been battling for a long time and are all tied up in their lifetime matchup (14-14). However, it was The Pimps who won the last go round with a score of 94-69 in 2023.
This one will truly be a battle though. Both teams start it off on Thursday Night with the Warriors starting Josh Allen at QB. The Pimps will by trying to limit the damage by leaning on Jaylen Waddle at WR. Then, once all the Sunday scoring is through, both teams have a stud playing on Monday Night football (Saquon Barkley, RB, The Pimps & AJ Brown, WR, Darque). So, this one could go back and forth until the end.
The wildcard in this game is The Pimps QB. Caleb Williams appears to be starting due to the Jordan Love injury. It wasn’t the prettiest Week 1 for Williams. So, things will have to improve for The Pimps to get a W here.
PREDICTION: Darque Warriors outlast The Pimps and win by double digits! AJ Brown in Primetime?? Watch out.
Scallywags (0-1) VS JBY (1-0). The Scallywags finished 5-8 last year, so falling to 0-2 would be another numbing kick to the groin. Word is that McE is taking a few shortcuts at work this week to aid in ironing out his lineup.
For his sake, hopefully all his players decide to suit up this week. That would be a start in getting their first win of the season.
In this matchup, things will certainly look rough for the Scallywags. Their QB (Jalen Hurts) doesn’t play until Monday night, so they will need to mount a comeback to have a chance. Hurts is capable of narrowing the gap, however Joe Buck Yourself might make it just too far out of reach. The combo of Derrick Henry and Breece Hall is looking to give the league fits this year. In fact, if their team stays relatively healthy, they’ll likely hit double digit wins again.
PREDICTION: Joe Buck Yourself goes 2-0 and the Scallywags keep looking for answers.
Monsters (0-1) face the (1-0) Gamblers. The Midway Monsters had a decent week last week, however no one “popped”. Just an average score that just “didn’t happen to win”. As for the Gamblers, Anthony Richardson (QB) had a good start to the year. He may have only completed 9 passes, but he scored 3 TDs and that’s where it counts. That helped put the Gamblers in triple digits and earn themselves a 1-0 start.
These two teams face off twice this year and judging by their lineups, a 3rd matchup in the postseason could even happen. The Monsters are looking a bit tougher in this matchup though. Mahomes, Wilson, Tyreek, and Josh Jacobs (will make this tough on the Gamblers to keep up.
PREDICTION: A Cheetah is faster than a Lamb. Midway Wins.
Jesters and Tacoman9000 enter this matchup winless and a bit let down. They were both looking to start the season hot, but now need to fix what went wrong and avoid that 0-2 start. However, one of them will be headed there soon.
This game looks dead even all the way down. Burrow VS Rodgers, Achane VS Pacheco, St. Brown VS Jefferson, etc etc.
PREDICTION: It comes down to Achane. If he plays, that’s the difference in this game. Jesters would win.
League Champ VS The Peoples Champ. Irish (1-0) VS Dawgs (0-1). The series is all tied up at 14-14. However, the Irish have won the last 5 matchups!
This is ESPN’s highest projected scoring matchup and the Irish are already off to a hot start. James Cook posted a solid game to start on Thursday Night Football. The Dawgs are in a hole. They are going to need their QB to outduel Lamar Jackson. Then, Bijan Robinson NEEDS to outplay Irish’s Jahmyr Gibbs and Kyren Williams combined. It’s a tough task, but we shall see.
PREDICTION: Dawgs don’t do 0-2! Irish Pride begin their slide
